Once upon a time,
two very best friends
who were complete opposites
did not like each other then.
Meet Little Hokie Jokie,
the thing he loved the best
was telling jokes and stories.
What he might say was anyone’s guess.
It did not matter how hokie a joke,
it did not matter how long or short,
his goal was always to make others laugh,
he loved nothing more.
Meet Little Smartsie Fartsie.
He was much more serious about stuff.
He was smart beyond measure,
loved trivia and was quite the history buff.
He could answer almost any question,
about almost anything.
He loved to read and study,
being a know-it-all was his thing.
When Little Hokie Jokie and Little Smartsie Fartsie were small,
they met one day at school.
Neither of them thought
that the other was cool.
Since they did not like the same things,
they did not take the time or bother
to get to know or
understand one another.
Then one day Little Hokie Jokie
got in trouble at school
for telling jokes and giggling,
which broke the quiet rule.
That same day, Little Smartsie Fartsie
got in trouble, too
for arguing with someone
about whether or not something was true.
They both ended up in detention
and for awhile it was tense.
Then Little Hokie Jokie started in,
telling his jokes again.
Though Little Smartsie Fartsie
did not want to laugh,
he got so giggly; you guessed it!
He passed gas!
They gave each other nicknames
and from that moment on,
they were best friends forever,
with a very tight bond.
It did not take them long to realize
the best part about their friendship
was that they complimented each other perfectly
because they were so different.
