All Kits come with an item to keep and an item to give.
Walking in Each Other's Shoes ELFercise helps kids work through thoughts of empathy by asking what they might find if they were in someone else's shoes. Not only that, but they're also asked to consider what someone might find if someone else was walking in their shoes! Why are others unkind? Why do people think you're weird? These are all up for discussion with this ELFercise!

******************************************************************************************If you were to walk a day in someone else’s shoes
what do you think you’d see?
Would you find someone who
is hurt or sad or maybe has a need?
If you were to walk a day in someone else’s shoes
what do you think you’d find?
Would seeing what their life is like
help you understand why they’re often unkind?
If you were to walk a day in someone else’s shoes
what do you think you’d learn?
Would you find someone who cannot focus or function
because of their fears and concerns?
If you were to walk a day in someone else’s shoes
what do you think you’d do?
Would it impact the way you think of them?
Would it help you not take so personally what they say and do?
And if the shoe was on the other foot
and they were wearing yours,
what would they see about you?
Would it help them understand why you do the things you do?
And if still the shoe was on the other foot
and they were wearing yours,
what would they find out about you?
Would they understand better your point of view?
And if yet another day, the shoe was on the other foot
and they were wearing yours,
what would they think about you?
Would they feel differently if they only knew?
If we simply imagined walking in each other’s shoes
each day and moment in time,
it would be so much easier
to be understanding and kind.
